Jim Burton
Jim Burton, the founder and CEO of The Data Center, is the visionary behind the company's success. With decades of unparalleled experience, Jim’s career includes groundbreaking work in developing accounting systems for local banks, designing trajectory simulation systems for the Polaris Missile System, and creating statistical financial reports for Naval Ships Systems Command. His expertise also extended to vital payroll and personnel systems for the Peace Corps and Spectre 70, laying the groundwork for his future achievements.
Although now semi-retired and enjoying life aboard his internet-connected yacht, Jim remains a cornerstone of The Data Center. His vast knowledge of nonprofit fundraising and reporting is unmatched, and he is always available to lend his expertise on an as-needed basis. Without Jim’s visionary leadership, The Data Center would not be the industry leader it is today. His hands-on approach continues to shape the company’s direction, offering guidance when it matters most.
Jim's legacy is evident in the company’s success. Over the years, he founded and developed multiple software design companies, creating advanced systems for subscription fulfillment, membership, fundraising, data analysis, and more. In 1989, he combined decades of experience to launch MASTERLINK, revolutionizing how client-server systems integrated with legacy systems. Today, his influence ensures that The Data Center remains at the forefront of nonprofit technology, as his deep expertise continues to guide the company’s future.
Henry Monti
Henry Monti is a seasoned programmer whose expertise has been instrumental in shaping The Data Center's technical foundation. With a history of groundbreaking achievements, Henry’s career includes developing an online membership system for the Chicago Motor Club and leading a transformative project to modernize Navy Fleet Broadcast Communications, transitioning from manual teletype operations to sophisticated satellite systems. His early contributions also include front-end processing innovations that enhanced Univac processors, streamlining performance for critical applications.
At The Data Center, Henry played a pivotal role as one of the original software developers of the company’s proprietary query system. Virginia Synan bringing decades of experience and unparalleled knowledge to her role. A true veteran in the industry, Virginia’s cutthroat approach to getting things done has earned her a reputation for being fiercely detail-oriented — some would even say almost to a fault! But, as anyone who works with her knows, her unwavering commitment to perfection is one of the reasons she is trusted by our largest clients to manage their most critical accounts.
Virginia was brought onto The Data Center team at the request of one of our largest clients, who insisted on having her on board because of her in-depth understanding of their database. Her extensive experience, having seen it all over the years, gives her a unique ability to navigate complex issues that would leave others scratching their heads. She knows this particular client’s database inside and out, which is why they would settle for no one else — and we wouldn’t either!

Over the years, he has contributed significantly to the development and refinement of TDC’s web applications, which are built with C# to ensure optimal speed and portability. Jeremy’s work has been crucial in creating the core products that serve The Data Center’s direct mail clients.
Recognizing the limitations of off-the-shelf solutions, Jeremy has spearheaded the development of custom software tailored to TDC’s unique needs. These applications provide complete control over design, usability, and seamless integration with nonstandard database architectures.
